Round up numbers to nearest ten, hundred, thousand

Round up numbers to nearest ten, hundred, thousand - 4th grade math game - Have you tried to go with your mom to the grocery store to buy your favorite food? And have you noticed your mom trying to estimate what would be the total amount of money spent on your groceries? Well, kid, your mom might be a round-off master! Howdy, Math wizards! The next game we have for you is all about rounding-off numbers! But before we proceed to the actual fun part of the game, let’s open our minds and understand first the world of round-off! When we want to round off a number to the nearest tens or hundreds, we have to look at its place to the right to help us decide whether to round up or down. To make it easier for you, underline the place you are rounding to and draw an arrow to the place that will tell you whether to round up or down. Just remember to always look one place to the right of the place that you want to round to. The same rule applies for rounding to the hundreds place as it does for rounding to the tens. The key number is five (5), if it’s five or higher you round up! But if it’s four or lower, you round down. For example, if you want to round off 137 to the nearest hundreds, the result is 100. Because the digit in the hundreds place is 1, and next to it is 3, which is a number lower than 5 so that basically means you need to round it down. You round the number in the hundreds place and make the numbers in the ones and tens places zeroes. Another example, round-off 37 to the nearest tens, and the result is 40. The digit next to the tens place (the ones place) is higher than 5, which means that you need to round it up. You round the number in the tens place and make the number in the ones place a zero. And there you have it, kids! You can now finally round-off numbers to different place values! How about trying on the game now? For sure you will pass with flying colors!
